All of us at the No Wey Incinerator action group want to wish you a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful, prosperous and, above all, healthy year ahead.

During the summer, Hampshire County Council held a public consultation on Veolia’s proposal to build a commercial waste incinerator in the rural Wey Valley near Alton. Thanks to you, over 3,300 objections were submitted – making this one of the most heavily opposed applications submitted anywhere in the UK over the last ten years.

Because of your objections Hampshire engaged a number of internal experts and external consults who have spent the last few months reviewing Veolia’s application and identifying areas where more information and evidence is needed in order to make a decision.

Veolia submitted this information just before the Christmas break began and in order to give the public the opportunity to review it, Hampshire County Council have announced a further period of public consultation. We now have until Friday 29 January to submit further comments and objections.

The No Wey Incinerator action group is now working closely with our own experts and consults to review the new information. Over the coming days we’ll be letting you know our thoughts and concerns and will once again help you to make your voice heard in the most effective way possible.

So as we enter 2021, full of optimism that we have a healthier and happier year ahead than the one we are leaving behind, please standby to OBJECT AGAIN and help us to protect the beautiful Wey Valley now, and for generations to come.
